CLASSIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Classification societies have issued rules and regulations for vessels equipped with large fire fighting systems.
The Jason fire fighting equipment has been tested and approved by the classification societies. Vessels fitted with Jason equipment are granted the additional class notation “Fire Fighter I”, “Fire Fighter II” or “Fire Fighter III”
FiFi I
Minimum capacity of 2.400 m3/h divided on two monitors with minimum throw length of 120 meters in still air. The minimum throw height is 45 meters measured from sea level and 70 meters away from the nearest part of the vessel. In addition the vessel has to be equipped with a spray system for self-protection.
FiFi II
Minimum capacity of 7.200 m3/h normally divided on three monitors. Minimum throw length is 150 meters in still air. The throw height has to be minimum of 80 meters from sea level measured 70 meters and away from the nearest part of the vessel.
FiFi III
Minimum capacity of 9.600 m3/h divided on 4 monitors. Minimum throw length is 150 meters in still air. The throw height has to be minimum of 80 meters from sea level measured 70 meters and away from the nearest part of the vessel.
In addition the vessel shall be fitted with two foam monitors, each with capacity of 300m3/h and throw height of 50 meters above sea level.
For FiFi II & FiFi III an arrangement with less number of monitors may be considered. In such cases the length of throw and height are increased to 180 meters and 110 meters respectively.
